It is a truth and it is a fact revealed straight from the horse mouth. Tamil super star Rajanikanth received Rs.2500 as remuneration for his film ’16 Vaidhinile’ while Kamal Hassan for that film received Rs.27000 remuneration. Rajanikanth remuneration was fixed at Rs.5000 but finally he was paid Rs.2500.

It was 36 years ago. Kamal Hassan films were in upbeat mood. The charisma of Rajanikanth was just blossoming.

The issue of two stalwarts of Indian cinema remuneration came up in Chennai recently at the digital trailer release of ‘16 Vaithinile’.

The fact was revealed by doyen of Tamil cinema Bharathiraja at the trailer launch function. It was Bharathiraja’s debut film. The digital restoration of the film has just been completed. The film is hitting the silver screen after 36 years.

What is the consolation for Rajanikanth fans now one would ask – the answer is Kamal Hassan presses the arms and shoulders of Rajanikanth in that film and that also happens to be the popular poster all over of the film.
